Combined Bilingual Book
In this project I redesigned a book called ‘Ikabana’. This is an old book from 1975, written in Hebrew, discussing Japanese gardening techniques targeting women.
Starting this project, I was leaning towards modern Japanese designs and inspirations in spite the book discussing old disciplines and techniques. This decision, to approach the project with such a dissonance, gave the project its edge in terms of design language and typography style.
The original book was written in Hebrew with female pronouns, when the target audience is women only. Another decision I made was changing the target audience and positioning the book to be approachable to all genders, and in addition also translating it to English to make it bilingual.
